i stole from my previous employer. i had never stolen before and they called the cops and i agreed to pay the money for the item with restitution becuase it wasnt in my posession anymore. i was given a ticket for petty larceny. i am a college student and dont want this to show on my record. i have no previous criminal background and dont intend to. What should i do?

Sorry if i am asking many question but do i ask for the dismissal of the charge on my court date?If not How Should i approach this? and is it necessary to bring a lawyer with me for this court date? thank you

Always good idea to bring a lawyer if you have (and can afford) one - if you cant afford one they may provide one for you.
